Right now, getting a reply takes about eleven steps, and only one of them is the screenshot. The rest is the trip: leave Instagram, open Reply Hotter, find the photo, wait, copy, go back, paste. This cuts out the trip. You screenshot the conversation, and your four replies come to you.
What it feels like afterwards
Screenshot the conversation the way you already do. Your phone asks Reply hotter? — say yes and your four replies arrive. Tap the one you want, and it's on your clipboard — go back and paste. Screenshot something that isn't a conversation and you just ignore it.
Setting it up
On your iPhone, in Safari, signed in to Reply Hotter:
- Open Settings → Account → Connect a device and tap Add to iPhone. Shortcuts opens; tap Add Shortcut. (If it doesn't, download the file instead and open it from Safari's downloads.)
- Back on that page, tap Connect. Shortcuts runs Reply Hotter once to link it to your account and says Connected. Nothing to type. (If Shortcuts doesn't open, run Reply Hotter yourself: it asks for the code shown under the button.)
That's it. Screenshot a conversation, run Reply Hotter (from the Shortcuts app, its widget, or by asking Siri), say yes, and tap a reply.
Optional: have it ask on every screenshot
Apple doesn't let anyone set this up for you, so it's one setting you make yourself, once. In Shortcuts, go to Automation → + → When I take a screenshot → run Reply Hotter.
Whether iOS runs it on its own is Apple's call, not ours. Some versions run a screenshot automation without asking; others put it behind a notification first, and Apple has moved this more than once. If yours offers Run Immediately, take it. Reply Hotter asks Reply hotter? itself before anything is sent, so a boarding pass or a receipt is one tap on Not this one and costs you nothing.
Or send it a picture from anywhere
Reply Hotter is in the share sheet already. Open any screenshot or photo, tap Share, tap Reply Hotter. Sharing it is the yes, so it doesn't ask.
A link is not a picture, and we won't pretend otherwise. Sharing a reel or a profile sends us the address, not what's in it — Instagram shows nothing to anyone who isn't logged in, so all we'd get is a web address. If you want a read on something she posted, screenshot it and share that. The picture works; the link can't.
Turning it off
Settings → Account → Active sessions. The phone shows up as iPhone (Reply Hotter). Revoke it and the shortcut stops working immediately, with no need to delete anything on the phone. To connect it again, tap Connect.
What it costs you
Exactly what it costs in the app: a round is a round wherever you ask for it. The Shortcut isn't a way around your plan, and it doesn't spend anything just sitting there.
On Android, this part is already done
Add Reply Hotter to your home screen from Chrome, and it shows up in the share sheet on its own. Share a screenshot to it from your gallery and the round starts. Share text and it lands in the "what's going on" box for you to check first.
Stuck? The help bubble in the app goes to a person.
